The following rules and guidelines have been established to ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for both farm helpers and hosts participating in the FHINZ programme. Please read these carefully before joining.
以下のルールとガイドラインは、FHINZプログラムに参加するファームヘルパーとホスト双方にとって、安全で公平かつ楽しい経験を確保するために設けられています。参加前に必ずお読みください。

Rules for Farm Helpers / ファームヘルパーへのルール
General Conduct
- Always be respectful and courteous to your host family and any other farm workers.
- Follow the instructions and directions given by your host at all times.
- Treat the farm property and equipment with care. Report any damage immediately to your host.
- Do not bring guests or visitors to the farm without prior permission from your host.
- Smoking is only permitted in designated areas as advised by your host. Respect non-smoking households.
- The consumption of alcohol or illegal substances on farm property is strictly prohibited unless expressly permitted by the host.
Working Hours & Duties
- Farm helpers are expected to work approximately 4–6 hours per day in exchange for meals and accommodation.
- Working hours and tasks should be agreed upon between the helper and host before arrival.
- Be punctual and reliable. If you are unable to work due to illness or other reasons, inform your host as early as possible.
- Helpers should be prepared to undertake a variety of farm tasks as directed by the host.
- Do not operate machinery or equipment you are not trained or authorised to use.
Safety
- Always follow safe working practices and any safety instructions provided by your host.
- Wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment when required.
- Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to your host immediately.
- Farm helpers are responsible for ensuring they hold adequate personal travel and health insurance for the duration of their stay in New Zealand.
Accommodation & Meals
- Keep your accommodation clean and tidy at all times.
- Respect the privacy and personal space of your host family.
- Notify your host of any dietary requirements or food allergies before arrival.
- Follow the house rules established by your host regarding mealtimes, curfews, and use of facilities.
Departure
- Give adequate notice to your host if you wish to leave earlier than planned.
- Leave your accommodation in the same condition as you found it.
- Return all borrowed tools, equipment, and property to your host before departing.

Rules for Hosts / ホストへのルール
General Obligations
- Treat all farm helpers with respect, dignity, and fairness at all times.
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for your farm helpers.
- Ensure your farm listing on the FHINZ website accurately reflects the type of work, accommodation, and conditions available.
- Do not discriminate against farm helpers on the basis of nationality, gender, age, religion, or any other personal characteristic.
Work & Compensation
- Hosts must provide farm helpers with adequate meals and accommodation in exchange for their work.
- Working hours should not exceed 6 hours per day without the mutual agreement of both parties.
- Clearly communicate the nature of tasks expected and provide appropriate training or guidance where required.
- Do not ask helpers to perform tasks that are dangerous, inappropriate, or outside the agreed scope of work.
- Hosts must not charge farm helpers for meals or accommodation in lieu of the work undertaken.
Safety & Wellbeing
- Ensure all reasonable health and safety measures are in place on the farm.
- Provide adequate safety briefings and instruction prior to any farm work commencing.
- Ensure farm helpers have access to appropriate safety equipment and clothing where required.
- Hosts are responsible for informing helpers of any specific risks associated with their farm or region.
- In the event of an emergency or accident, hosts must ensure that appropriate assistance and care is arranged.
Accommodation Standards
- Accommodation provided must be clean, dry, and of a reasonable standard.
- Farm helpers must have access to adequate bathroom and toilet facilities.
- Hosts should respect the privacy of farm helpers when they are in their accommodation.
- Adequate bedding and personal space must be provided for each helper.
Communication
- Respond promptly to enquiries from prospective farm helpers.
- Notify farm helpers of any significant changes to arrangements as soon as possible.
- Provide honest and accurate feedback if requested by FHINZ regarding a farm helper's stay.
- Inform FHINZ of any serious incidents or concerns relating to a farm helper's conduct or wellbeing.

General FHINZ Programme Rules / 全般的なルール
|
- All participants in the FHINZ programme must abide by New Zealand law at all times.
- Farm helpers must hold a valid visa that permits them to undertake voluntary farm work in New Zealand. It is the responsibility of the helper to ensure their visa conditions are complied with.
- FHINZ acts solely as an introduction service between farm helpers and hosts. FHINZ accepts no liability for any incidents, accidents, losses, or disputes that may arise between helpers and hosts.
- Any misuse of the FHINZ website, forum, or member services may result in immediate removal from the programme without refund.
- Disputes between helpers and hosts should be resolved directly between the parties involved. Where resolution cannot be reached, FHINZ may be contacted for advice but cannot be held responsible for outcomes.
- FHINZ reserves the right to remove any host or helper from the programme if they are found to be in serious breach of these rules or acting in a manner detrimental to the programme or other participants.
- These rules may be updated from time to time. Participants are encouraged to check this page regularly for any changes.

Important Notice: By registering with FHINZ as either a farm helper or a host, you agree to abide by these rules and guidelines. FHINZ is a community-based programme that relies on goodwill and mutual respect between all participants. We thank you for helping to maintain the integrity and spirit of the programme.
